Güncel Notlar

WBZ-TV's Pamela Gardner takes a tour of the Salem landmark. The novel begins with the narrator describing an old mansion, the Pyncheon House, also known as the House of the Seven Gables. Pyncheon Street, the road on which the mansion is located, used to be called Maule’s Lane in the days of the Puritan settlement in Massachusetts, after Matthew Maule, the inhabitant of a cottage along the cowpath.

18.07.2015 The House of the Seven Gables is a historic house in Salem, Massachusetts. It was built for Captain John Turner. It remained in the Turner family for three generations. The earliest section of the house was built in 1668. It faced south towards Salem Harbor. It was a two-room, 2 1⁄2-story house.

But she, like Holgrave, cannot wholly redeem the house nor its inhabitants. Whereas Holgrave is given an unused garret and is refused admittance to the rest of the house, Phoebe is given a room on the east, the direction from which has come the fierce wind which has blackened the structure of the house over the years.
